Thought of the day
It's easy to make your faith mostly about you: your forgiveness, your peace, your future. All of that is true, and it matters. But Paul's vision in Ephesians 1 is bigger than any one life, including yours.
"He made known to us the mystery of his will... to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ" (Ephesians 1:9-10). God isn't just working on you. He's working on everything sin has fractured: relationships, families, nations, creation itself, and He's bringing all of it together under Jesus.
That's actually good news for the pressure you're carrying. Your career doesn't have to hold your whole life together. Your kids don't have to hold it together. Your marriage doesn't have to hold it together. Your reputation, your bank account, your fitness, your five-year plan: none of them were built to bear that weight, and none of them have to. Jesus is the one holding everything together, including you.
There's a kind of relief in realizing you're not the main character of the story you're living in. You're part of something God is doing that's bigger than your Tuesday, bigger than your family, bigger than your city. Your obedience today, the patience you choose with your kids, the honesty you choose at work, the forgiveness you extend to someone who hurt you, all of it is a small thread in a much larger tapestry God is weaving toward wholeness.
You don't have to fix everything today. You don't have to hold everything together today. You get to participate in something God is already doing, and trust Him with the parts that are way above your pay grade. Today, let your shoulders drop a little. This was never all resting on you.
